Stephen is a private investor with interests in impact investing, education and mental health. He is a director of responsAbility Social Investment Services AG, Grassroots Business Fund and The Mentoring Foundation. He is a trustee of Teach First, and a founding trustee of NTYE UK (Network for Training Young Entrepreneurs) – a Community Interest Company specializing in teaching low-income youth about how to build businesses. NTYE grew from Stephen’s directorships with NFTE (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurs), a worldwide charitable organization with its roots in the US and continental Europe.

Tomas Carruthers

Tomas Carruthers is CEO of the Social Stock Exchange. Tomas has an established track record of building and growing retail financial services companies over the last two decades. He served as CEO of Interactive Investor International plc. Following IICo’s acquisition by AMP in 2001, he joined AMP International Holdings Ltd as European Business Development Director. Prior to Interactive Investor, Mr. Carruthers founded Interactive Markets Ltd. He was also one of the Founders and Business Development Directors of ESI, the United Kingdom subsidiary of E*Trade. He also established a solutions business delivering internet services for fund managers and life offices including Standard Life, Investec, Flemings, Dexia, Old Mutual and others.

Pradeep Jethi

Co-founder & Chair of the Admission Panel

Pradeep is chair of the Admission Panel at the Social Stock Exchange. He was previously New Product Development Manager at the London Stock Exchange and was Founder and Head of FTdynamo.com, a Financial Times business and management information portal.

James Perry

Non-Executive Director

James, with his brother, has spent the last 11 years building their social-hearted business, COOK (www.cookfood.net). It now employs around 400 people and is rolling out nationally. Since 2004 he has been working with Panahpur, a pioneering foundation exploring the potential of a capital revolution where money can be invested for positive social outcomes.

Paul Gibson

Non-Executive Director

Paul is National Specialist, Charity and Social Enterprise Sector Group at Mazars LLP and works nationally with social enterprise and charity clients specializing in governance, effectiveness, business strategy and planning, risk management, accounting, and financial reporting. He is a trustee on a number of Quaker and social enterprise boards, including the Quakers & Business Group. He has a particular interest in understanding impact.

Gunner Burkhart

Gunner has spent the past 31 years in financial services based in New York and London. He is currently a Senior Advisor to the Financial Conduct Authority following a career as Managing Director and co-Head of the European Equities business at Goldman Sachs, Managing Director and Global Head of Trading at Deutsche Asset Management, Managing Director and European Head of Capital Markets Prime Services at Lehman Brothers and Managing Director and Global Head of Senior Relationship Management at Nomura Intl. He also currently serves as a Board member of Tower Hamlets College, Lehman Brothers Foundation Europe , Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership , an Advisor to the Greenhouse Charity and a Business Mentor for the Prince’s Trust.

Luke Fletcher

Luke Fletcher is a solicitor at Bates Wells & Braithwaite specializing in social finance. He advises on a range of social finance related transactions, including public share and debt issuance by civil society organizations, investment structuring, fund establishment, intermediary activity and financial services issues. Luke is the author of the NESTA report “Investing in Civil Society: A Framework for a Bespoke Regime”. He is an advocate for legal and regulatory reform to make social investment simpler and more mainstream and was recently seconded to the Cabinet Office to advise on social investment policy.
